We are so happy you are here and we can not wait to go on your wedding journey with you! So pop the champagne and let's get into it... Introductions first.
We are Reinhard & Melissa Smit and about a million years ago we began our lives together as farmers (can you believe it?). But life had other plans and Lumier Weddings (Initially Pioneer Studios) was born in 2015 when Reinhard and Melissa fell in love with story telling as a photo & film duo. Today we still live for weddings.
In 2025 we have moved on to wedding planning and finally our own wedding venue (yay!) where we can live our dreams and create exceptional all inclusive weddings for clients. Lumièr still offers photo & film, and our team of creatives carry our passion and our heart for our clients and their weddings.
We Are Breaking the Rules...
After a decade in the wedding industry, with over 1000 weddings under our belt, we have come to the strong belief that; one - you should not have to sell your first born rights to have an exceptional wedding and two - the cookie cutter wedding industry is old, and we, like our couples - are tired of it.
In fact, we believe that couples overspend on details that have no true value - yes - we are making bold statements. Because we have worked hard to build a wedding experience for our clients that will change weddings as we know it. We want to equip couples with new possibilities and fresh ways to celebrate their weddings.
So, here we are after 11 years, shifted from a husband and wife duo doing photo and film, to wedding planning, and then to full wedding services at our very own wedding venue. Welcome to Lumièr Weddings.

These captivating drinks, infused with dry ice for a dramatic mist effect, sets the tone for an extraordinary celebration right from the start. It’s more than just a refreshment—it’s a showpiece that adds a touch of magic and excitement as your guests arrive, instantly drawing them into the enchanting atmosphere of your wedding day.

Imagine arriving at your wedding pre-reception and being welcomed by a blank canvas waiting to be transformed. With brushes and paints laid out, your guests are invited to leave their creative mark, adding strokes, splashes, or doodles that together form a one-of-a-kind artwork. This collaborative piece becomes more than just a painting—it’s a memory captured through the hands of your loved ones, blending everyone’s personalities into a beautiful keepsake you’ll treasure forever.
As part of your wedding experience, we will set up a beautifully styled portrait station where each guest will have the opportunity to be photographed in timeless black and white. These elegant portraits capture the personality and presence of your loved ones in a way that feels both classic and artistic. After the wedding, every guest will receive their digital portrait as a lasting keepsake, with the option to have their image professionally printed on site for an additional fee—turning a simple photograph into a treasured memento of your special day.
In addition, we create a film guest book for your guests - they get to record a film message for you that we deliver after the wedding.
Let Them Eat… Anything but Cake!
White tiered wedding cakes are yesterday. Step into the Lumièr way with a Pavlova that you decorate with your newly married love, as opposed to or in addition to cutting it. Or opt for cake pops decorated in your theme - our brownie cake pops is definitely something to consider.
No to one night stands...
Introducing a rehearsal dinner! The evening before your wedding is the perfect way to ease into the celebrations and spend even more meaningful time with your closest family and friends. It creates space for heartfelt speeches and toasts in an intimate setting, so that formalities can be enjoyed without taking away from the flow of your wedding day. Beyond this, the rehearsal dinner can be a relaxed gathering filled with laughter, storytelling, and the blending of families and friends. It’s also the ideal moment to hand out thank-you gifts, share a slideshow of memories, and do a last dance as an engaged couple - or even the bride with her dad before she gets married.
By starting the celebration early, you extend the joy of your wedding into a fuller experience of connection, love, and unforgettable memories.
